Disability Living Allowance

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a benefit that helps with the extra costs that disabled people face as a result of their disabilities. DLA is not means-tested, and it is tax free.
Does your child require more care than the 'average' child?
Do they need a lot more attention and supervision than other children of the same age?
DLA has two components (parts): mobility and care. People can receive just one component or both together. The care component is paid at three different rates and the mobility component is paid at two rates.
More information regarding mobility and care rates can be found here

Don't let the long application form put you off, request an application pack and take your time completing it. You are given a period of time to return the form and then the payments will be backdated to the date you requested the application form. Complete the form based on 'a bad day' and be as honest as you can. A great and helpful guide to help you filling the form in is a guide by Cerebra which can be found here

There is also a video to watch
More details on how to apply and the rates can be found on the official government website
