Thomley is a place for people of all abilities and disabilities. We bring disabled people, their families, carers and friends together with experienced and nurturing staff that understand their needs.
Thomley is a place to play, have fun, socialise and learn to live. We welcome disabled people of all ages from babies to adults, and their families, carers or friends. We support people at any stage of their diagnostic journey, whatever their additional needs.

Thomley is set on a beautiful 9 acre site, fully enclosed in the countryside. Have a look at the various rooms and facilities we have on site below, or look at the site tour to the right of this text.
What you see in the photography really doesn’t do it justice, it’s a place you really do have to see to get the full Thomley feeling.
Our indoor soft play area is purpose built and contains a ball pool, rope ladder, swinging sausage, tactile shapes, dens, tunnels and an infinity hut. Our visitors can safely explore, climb and grow in physical confidence.
Outside, there is plenty of space for sports and outdoor fun. Our seven-acre playing field is surrounded by peaceful countryside, but completely secured within an eight-foot perimeter fence.
Our playground equipment has been designed for the needs of disabled users and includes: a covered sandpit; adapted swings and zip wire; wheelchair-friendly play fort and roundabout; an accessible garden with allotment; and a one-kilometre cycle track with a good selection of bicycles, tricycles, go-karts and a trampoline.
Our sensory room can be hired separately by a family or group. With bubble tubes, music, multi-sensory ball pool, vibrating mattress, shadow board, tactile equipment and toys and a hanging chair – stimulate and challenge sensory development. A ceiling hoist ensures the room is accessible to all.
Our teenage den is kitted out with computer consoles, pool, table football or sofas to just chill out with friends.
Our senior youth-worker runs age-appropriate activities providing opportunities to socialise with other teenagers, develop independent living skills and make new friends.
Imagination and creativity can be explored in our arts and craft room. Painting, cutting, sticking, modelling, building, drawing are just a handful of activities that we offer each day. We also frequently run additional art workshops and our play work team are always on hand to help and play.
Whether it’s reading a book, playing with soft toys or taking a ride on the rocking horse, the playrooms have something for everyone. Boxes and boxes of toys to play with, every child’s dream!
Dress up as a cowboy, cook an imaginary dinner in the kitchen or put on a dramatic performance in our Imagination room.
The Construction Room
The Construction Room is for creating and playing with Lego and trains! We have our own Thomley Hornby collection, plus boxes of Lego to make as many creations as you please.
We are very proud of our accessible toileting facility. Our wet room is fitted with a shower, changing bed, ceiling hoist with tracking, height adjustable sink and much more.
We are registered with Changing Places meaning that people passing who require accessible toilets can pop in and use ours.
The pavilion is a 2017 addition to our service where you can relax, chat and eat lunch in a lovely setting, over-looking the Thomley field. You can also leave valuables and lunch in lockers.
You can buy hot and cold drinks and food at very reasonable prices from our serving hatch. Menus will vary throughout the year.
When can you come?
Thomley offers several focus days which aim to suit children, teenagers and adults of all abilities.
All of our focus days are available for disabled people, their families and friends. A couple of these focus days are then available to people without a disability too. See below for the various days we offer.
We not only accept disabled and non disabled children, teens and adults with their families or carers, but with their schools or a group too. For more information please visit the Thomley website.
Before your visit.....
Prior to your first Thomley visit, we need you to fill out an enrolment form. This ensures we have all your details for health and safety reasons and can sign you up to our news. You are then able to make a booking. If you need to make a change to your booking, then please let us know as soon as possible.
On the day of your visit....
All set for your first visit? Please make sure you bring sun cream or your wellies (or both!), a packed lunch and of course spare clothes or any medication you may require. We open at 10am and close at 3:30pm.
You are more than welcome to bring a packed lunch, but we do serve a variety of hot or cold snacks and drinks, we can also cater to your dietry requirements if you let us know.
When you arrive, ring the buzzer on our gate, where a member of the team will come and let you in. We will sign you in, take your enrolment form and give you a tour of the site.
How much will it cost?
As Thomley is a charity, we ask for a voluntary contribution towards your visit. We suggest an £8 donation per disabled child, and £10 for children without a disability. For any sibling we ask for the same donation, but for the third and fourth sibling we would only ask for half of the £8 / £10 donation.
There is no donation for parents or carers.
If you would like a half an hour session in our sensory room, we ask for a further donation of £2 per user.
If you are visiting on a preschool day then we ask for a donation of £6 for over twos, £2 for under ones and £4 for all those between one and two years.
Recommended donations are flexible and families will not be turned away due to affordability.
We have a fantastic 16 seater minibus which we can come and pick you up in, and we keep this as cheap as we can by only asking you to cover the cost of the trip.
If you struggle with transport or would like to bring a group of people here, please get in touch and arrange for us to pick you up. We are happy to pick up from many different areas and the bus is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
